OOTD: End of Summer Picnic

End of Summer Picnic

This time of year is rough, you wake up in the morning and it’s freezing out so you dress warmly, then literally two hours later it suddenly becomes 80 degrees! Well, I definitely had the weather’s bipolar tendencies in mind when I was picking out this outfit. I was going to an end of the summer, employee appreciation picnic put on by the company I work for, and to be honest I didn’t really know what to expect. I knew that everyone from my work was pretty much going to be there, and I knew there would be food and drinks but what about activities and would there be sports? To dress accordingly I decided to go for a cute but comfy look and I believe it did live up to its purpose! It was basically, your classic jeans and a T-shirt but a little more elevated, by adding my trendy sneaker mules and the ripped hem on my jeans which gave this look the little bit of extra that I was going for!

So let’s talk about these jeans for a second because I’m OBSESSED, the hem on them is perfect and SO on trend. You may have been seeing a lot of crazy hems on denim jeans lately, but this one is subtle enough for an everyday look and I can already tell you I’ll be wearing them non-stop this season! And to my surprise, these jeans turned out to be pretty comfy. They are a mid rise which I actually prefer over a high rise and the provided just enough stretch in the waist that I didn’t feel uncounterable when sitting down. I highly recommend and Express now has a great promotion going on for jeans!

Next my top, I’ve had this Free People shirt for awhile now, it’s so basic and comfy and I’ve styled numerous outfits with it! The length of this shirt is great, especially paired with these mid-rise jeans. I decided to tuck the middle of my shirt into my jeans to create a little extra detail by showing off the top of the jeans. You could have also created this same effect by tying the bottom of a shirt into a knot. For instance, a Tee like this is perfect for that – SO effortlessly cute!

And to really bring this whole look together, I threw in these awesome sneaker mules. Mules are everywhere and such a big trend for this upcoming season. These mules give a sportier twist to this trend and were absolutely perfect for all the activities that I ended up participating in at the picnic! I think having a pair of sneaker mules is such a smart move when searching for mules I’ve often found a lot of styles that seemed more dressy or business casual – but ones like this and these (Perfect Gucci Dupes) are perfect for every day, streetwear!

Lastly, my purse. I knew I wanted a crossbody because they are the easiest to carry around so I decided to take my Louis Vuitton Mini Pochette, which I had transformed into a crossbody right after I purchased it about 2 years ago!
